K25

It is one of the more bizarre experiences for the uninitiated to get to Knoxville and find people speaking in code. "I live back over by Y12," or "Take a left by the brown dog by the side of the road, cross the crick, and then swing past K25." I remember a billboard by the side of the road with a message along the lines of "Loose lips sink ships," an eerie reminder of the Manhattan project history and role of ORNL. That's a long story to say that I noticed that the gaseous diffusion facility of K25 is being torn down and perhaps partially preserved for a museum piece. Thought maybe those dispersed Knoxville Beattys would be interested.
